SCRIPTURAL VERSE: MATTEW 23:27-28
Alas for you scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed and tombs that look handsome on the outside but inside full of the bones of the dead and every kind of corruption. In just the same way, from the outside you look upright but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Like the scribes and Pharisees, very often we hold our real self from people and present a rehearsed identity to them. We may claim to pray every day but only God knows our hearts, we may condemn the evil we are guilty of publicly but only God knows us. We may present our pseudo self to people just for them to respect us but God knows who we are.
Rabbit spirituality is a new spiritual lexicon that I came out with. Now when you access or study the rabbit externally, it is a very clean animal externally with very good comportment but find time to know the inner life of the rabbit and you will know that is not the same with what we see outside. The inner life of the rabbit is very dirty. When we come to church elegantly dressed, very often we practice this rabbit spirituality. Who we are in the Church contradicts who we are outside the Church. Jesus saw this rabbit spirituality in the scribes and pharisees and condemned it.
