TODAY’S VERSE: Matthew 19:6
What God has joined together, man must not put asunder
There is a whispering campaign going on today against chastity and fidelity in marriage. People are told that it is very bad to repress themselves; that self-expression is always good. But we must know for example according to Fulton Sheen that to repress the desire to rob a bank is to express the virtue of honesty.
Today, we see people who are worn out before they are thirty and have never touched the deeper aspect of happiness in life. They cannot respond to normal marriage relations and the chances of compatibility are poor. We should know that promiscuity makes people lose the greatest experience in life: love. Pre-marital experience destroys certain inhibitions in the young which prepares them for infidelity later in life (Fulton Sheen). Men and women living in their marriage fidelity are psychologically balanced and value each other more with mutual respect.
The values of promiscuity if at all there is any are divergent to that of Christian marriage intended by God. Because of civilization today, promiscuity is seen as a way of life but in actual sense, promiscuity is toxic to any healthy human relationship.
